You'll understand hair and scalp science, not just technique. You'll know how to consult a client, read their hair, adapt your approach, and deliver results that build a loyal following. You'll have trained on real clients in our fully operational student hair clinic, so by the time you graduate, you're not starting from scratch.

Four days a week on campus in Morayfield, plus study time at home. Assessed through quizzes, written exams, assignments, and practical assessments on real clients.
Haircuts, All Structures
One-length, graduated, layered, and combined haircut structures, plus classic men's cuts and over-comb techniques, taught step-by-step to professional standard.
Colour and Lightening
Apply hair colour products, full colour and lightening services, full and partial head highlights, on-scalp bleach and retouch treatments, and colour correction, using NAK Colour with full technical support.
Chemical Treatments
Straightening and relaxing with both chemical and protein treatments, the technical knowledge that sets qualified hairdressers apart.
Hair Design and Styling
Dry hair to shape, create finished hair designs, braid hair, and create classic long hair up-styles for special occasions and events.
Hair and Scalp Treatments
Identify and treat a full range of hair and scalp conditions. Shampoo, basin, and conditioning services delivered with the technical understanding of why each step matters.
Head, Neck and Shoulder Massage
Relaxation massage as part of the full client service experience, a skill clients genuinely remember and return for.
Client Consultation and Communication
Greet and prepare clients, consult on services, develop and grow a client base. The relationship skills that build a career that lasts.
Salon Operations and Retail
Conduct salon financial transactions, visual merchandising, workplace health and safety, and sustainable work practices, the professional knowledge to operate in any salon environment.
Real Client Hours
Supervised appointments on real clients in our fully operational student hair clinic, open to the public. Actual paid appointments, the experience that employers can see the moment you walk in.

Katrinas was founded by Katrina Gilligan, a multi-award-winning beauty and hair professional, APPA Salon of the Year winner, and owner of the Katrinas Skin Works salon chain. The Morayfield campus is purpose-built, approximately 500 square metres, fully air-conditioned, with a fully equipped hair clinic featuring NAK Colour products and full technical support. You're not training in a converted room. You're training in a space built specifically for professional hairdressing education.
The student hair clinic is open to the public, which means your practical hours are real client appointments supervised by qualified trainers. Not practice runs on head blocks, actual clients, actual standards, actual preparation for the job.
